Our Responsibility

Fishing for the Future

We believe that responsible trade and healthy oceans are inseparable. Every decision we make — from sourcing to packaging — is measured against its environmental and social impact.

Our Approach

Sustainability Is Not an Add-On — It Is Our Operating Model

OceanBridge has embedded environmental responsibility into every layer of our business — from the fisheries we select to the energy powering our cold rooms. We hold ourselves accountable through independent third-party certification, annual public reporting, and buyer-accessible traceability data.

Core Pillars

How We Operate Responsibly

Responsible Wild-Catch Sourcing

We partner exclusively with fisheries that hold current Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification for wild-caught species. Every sourcing agreement includes annual audit rights, quota compliance verification, and mandatory bycatch reporting.

  • MSC chain-of-custody maintained throughout supply chain
  • Seasonal closures respected — no off-season sourcing
  • Bycatch data reported quarterly to certification body
  • Vessel monitoring system (VMS) data verified per shipment

Certified Aquaculture Practices

For farmed species, we source exclusively from ASC-certified aquaculture operations that meet the Aquaculture Stewardship Council's rigorous environmental and social standards — covering water quality, chemical use, biodiversity impact, and worker welfare.

  • ASC and GlobalG.A.P. certified farms only
  • Zero use of prohibited antibiotics or growth hormones
  • Water discharge treated to regulatory standards
  • Farm biodiversity impact assessments reviewed annually

Full Traceability System

Each OceanBridge export carton carries a unique QR code linking to a digital record containing vessel ID, GPS catch coordinates, date, processing batch number, and cold-chain log. Buyers can verify the provenance of every shipment in seconds.

  • QR-coded cartons with batch-level digital traceability
  • GPS-logged catch location for every wild-catch shipment
  • Processing records linked to catch date and vessel
  • Blockchain-anchored audit trail available on request

Carbon & Environmental Impact

We are committed to reducing the carbon footprint of our export operations. Since 2022 we have been measuring our Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, with a verified net-zero shipping target set for 2028 through offset partnerships and fleet efficiency programmes.

  • Annual carbon footprint audit (ISO 14064 methodology)
  • Solar-powered cold storage at Colombo processing facility
  • Net-zero reefer shipping target: 2028
  • Zero single-use plastic commitment by 2026
