Making sustainability
commercially serious
Founded in 2009 in Colombo, Sri Lanka — because we believed buyers in the circular economy deserved a partner who could deliver both environmental integrity and commercial reliability.
Born from a frustration
with half-measures.
In 2009, EcoMaterials founder Priyantha Abeywickrama was working as a commodity broker in Colombo when he repeatedly encountered the same problem: buyers who wanted certified sustainable materials couldn't find exporters who could consistently deliver them at commercial volumes with reliable documentation.
Certifications existed. Sustainable forests existed. What was missing was the commercial infrastructure to connect them — the logistics, the documentation expertise, the sourcing network, and the long-term relationships with growers who understood what sustainability actually required.
EcoMaterials was founded to be that infrastructure. Not a trading desk with a green label — a company where sustainability is engineered into every process, from grower selection to final delivery.

What we hold ourselves to
Traceability
We believe every buyer deserves to know exactly where their materials come from. Provenance is not a premium add-on — it is the baseline.
Community
Commercial sustainability begins with the farmers and forest workers who make it possible. We are only as resilient as our supply communities.
Reliability
Sustainability should never mean unreliability. We hold buffer stock and maintain redundant sourcing for all core products so our buyers are never left short.
Transparency
Our pricing is open-book on request. Our certifications are public. Our impact data is third-party verified. We do not hide anything.
The people behind the exports
Industry veterans with decades of hands-on experience in commodity trade, forest ecology, logistics, and compliance.
