The studio started as a treated bedroom corner in 2016 — one microphone, one interface, and Audacity. Eight years later, it's a purpose-built, acoustically isolated recording space. Every upgrade was driven by a specific project requirement. None of it exists to look impressive in a gear list.
I use the Neumann U87 for its transparency — I want the source to come through, not the microphone's character. I use iZotope RX for repairs because it means I can salvage recordings that would otherwise be unusable, which saves clients time and money. The Focal monitors are there because I need to hear every mistake.
Everything in this list was chosen because it makes the work better — not because it makes a good photo.
