Bold Over Beige
Every decision is a creative decision. We'd rather make something that divides opinion than something that inspires none. Safe is the riskiest choice of all.
Our Story
A four-person team in a cramped Colombo studio. A manifesto scrawled on a whiteboard. A shared conviction that great creative work should be impossible to scroll past.
Founded 2018
NovaSpark was started by four friends who met at the Sri Lanka Design Festival in 2017. A graphic designer, a developer, a filmmaker, and a strategist — all with the same grievance: the creative industry in Sri Lanka was playing it too safe.
We rented a 400 sq ft space on Galle Face Terrace, bought second-hand monitors, and made a promise to each other: every project we touch would make someone stop and stare. Not because it shouted. Because it was genuinely, unmistakably good.
Six years later, we've grown to twelve people, moved into a proper studio, won a handful of awards, and worked with brands from Colombo to London. But the whiteboard is still on the wall. And the manifesto still says the same thing.
"Make work that earns a second look."

Our Foundation
Every decision is a creative decision. We'd rather make something that divides opinion than something that inspires none. Safe is the riskiest choice of all.
The microcopy. The transition ease. The colour between the brand colours. We care about details that most people will never consciously notice — but always feel.
If we think a direction is wrong, we say it. Clients pay us for honest expertise, not polite agreement. The best work always comes from friction respected.
We move fast on purpose. Quick decisions, rapid prototypes, honest feedback loops. Momentum creates better work than deliberation.
We are proudly Sri Lankan. We bring that context and energy to work that competes with the best studios anywhere in the world. These aren't contradictions.
When our clients grow, we grow. We actively track the impact of our work and hold ourselves accountable to outcomes — not just outputs.
