Three Hundred Acres
of Green Silence.

A colonial bungalow. A working tea estate. An experience unlike any other in Sri Lanka.

Ceylon Heights Bungalow — heritage bungalow with garden walkway

A House With Memory.

Built in 1887 by the Mackenzie family, Ceylon Heights Bungalow stands as one of the finest remaining examples of colonial planter architecture in the Sri Lankan highlands. Restored with deep respect for its character, every room holds echoes of the estate's past — polished teak floors, original fireplaces, and pressed-tin ceilings that have watched over a century of highland seasons.

Today, the bungalow welcomes just 12 guests at a time. No resort crowds. No schedules forced upon you. Just the sound of wind through 300 acres of tea, the smell of wood smoke in the evening, and the unhurried pace of estate life.

This is Sri Lanka as it once was. Quiet. Generous. Unforgettable.

Farm-to-table meals using estate produce, the Nuwara Eliya market, and a kitchen that honours both British colonial traditions and Sinhalese home cooking.

Every meal accompanied by estate-grown Ceylon tea. Kumari has been feeding guests here for over a decade. Her table is the heart of the house.

Heard From the Highlands

"The most beautiful place I have ever slept. The sound of rain on the tin roof at night, the mist at breakfast — I left a piece of my heart in those highlands."

— Charlotte W., United Kingdom · October 2024

"Staying at Ceylon Heights reset something in me I didn't know needed resetting. The tea walks at dawn, the fireplace evenings — pure magic. We'll be back every year."

— James & Priya N., Australia · March 2024

"Nothing prepares you for waking up to 300 acres of tea in the early light. The bungalow has a soul — it felt like being a guest in someone's beloved family home."

— Sofia M., Germany · January 2025

"Kumari's cooking alone is worth the journey. But pair it with the estate walks, the colonial rooms, and that extraordinary silence — there is nowhere else like this."

— Thomas R., France · December 2024
