Every Season Has Its Character.
Peak Season
Best TimeClear blue skies, perfect visibility, cool evenings by the fire. The first tea flush begins in March. Fully booked well in advance.
Transition
QuieterWarmer and wetter as the first monsoon approaches from the south-west. The estate turns its deepest green. Fewer guests, more of Kumari's attention.
High Monsoon
Rain SeasonHeavy afternoon rains, mornings often clear. The sound of rain on the tin roof is extraordinary. Significant discounts available. Bring waterproofs.
Second Season
Great ValueThe second flush is harvested. Clear mornings, occasional afternoon showers. Christmas and New Year are fully booked — book a year ahead.
The Highlands Require Layers.
Nuwara Eliya sits at 1,868m. Evenings are cold, mornings can be misty, afternoons sometimes warm. Pack accordingly.
Before You Ask
Yes — we have Wi-Fi throughout the bungalow. Coverage is good in most rooms, though the upper floor can be patchy. We gently encourage guests to put their phones away during meals and morning walks. The estate gives that back to you.
Yes, children are very welcome. Under-5s stay free sharing a room with parents. We have a cot available. Older children love the estate — there is space, animals, and Kumari's cooking. The Garden Room and Estate Suite work best for families.
The ground floor Garden Room and Mackenzie Room are accessible for guests with mobility considerations. The bungalow is a heritage building, so some areas (upper floors, verandah steps) have limitations. Please contact us to discuss your specific needs.
Ceylon Heights is a dry house — we do not serve or sell alcohol. Guests are very welcome to bring their own wine or beer. We provide ice, glasses, and a quiet verandah with views that improve any wine considerably.
Free cancellation up to 7 days before arrival. Within 7 days, a one-night charge applies. No-shows are charged in full. We're flexible for genuine emergencies — please just contact us.
We are usually fully booked. Occasionally a room becomes available at short notice — call us directly and we'll let you know. We recommend booking at least 4–6 weeks in advance for weekends, 3 months ahead for December and peak season.
